Nomad Water Bottle Holder

Stay hydrated with the Nomad Water Bottle Holder. Made with durable crochet cord that will hold up to the elements. Make a loop or cross-body style in any size.

Nomad Water Bottle Holder

Supplies
Size K 6.5mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Large eye tapestry needle (16)
Bonnie Craft Cord (4mm) 100 yards

Notes
Slip stitch in the first st of each round to join, unless noted
A metal hook works best with crochet cord
Fuse ends of cord using a lighter
The pattern is worked from the bottom up, ending with the strap/loop.



Nomad Water Bottle Holder

Size
Standard size holds a 16.9oz water bottle or reusable 2.5 inch wide bottle.
Wide holds a 3.5 inch wide water bottle.
Strap length is customized.

Standard Width

Create a magic ring
Rd 1: ch3, dc11 in magic ring (12dc)
Rd 2: ch3, *2dc inc in each of the next 2 st, dc1* repeat 4x (21dc -Fig. A

Rd 3:ch1, sc20 in blo, (20sc)
Invert base of holder so that the side facing you as you work is the outside.
Use a lighter to fuse tail end of yarn to base of water bottle holder. Fuse to the inside. (Fig. B)

Rd 4: ch2, hdc20 (20hdc)
Rd 5: ch4 (counts as dc and ch1), sk 1 st, dc1 in next st, ch1 *sk 1 st, dc1, ch1* repeat 9x, sl st into ch4sp to join (11dc, 10 ch1sp)
Rd 6-8: ch4 (counts as dc and ch1), *sk ch1sp, dc1 in top of dc from prev rd, ch1* repeat 10x, sl st in ch4sp to join (11dc, 10 ch1sp)
Add more of or less of rounds 6-8 for a shorter or taller holder.
Rd 9: ch1, sc21 in blo, sl st to join (21sc)
Rd 10: ch1, sc21, sl st to join (21sc)
Rd 11: sl st 21 (Fig. C)

From this point on you will be working the strap/loop.
If slip stitches are too tight in rnd 11 try switching to a smaller hook for row 1.
Row 1: ch2, hdc1 into same st as join, hdc2, ch1, turn
Row 2: beg in 1st st dc3, ch1, turn
Row 3: beg in 1st st dc2tog, dc1, ch1, turn
Row 4: beg in 1st st dc2, ch1, turn

Complete Row 5 for Loop Style Finishing
Row 5: beg in 1st st dc2
Fasten off, sew in base of loop (Fig. D)

Strap Style Finishing
Repeat row 4 until desired length is achieved ending with an exterior row (or odd numbered row) just completed. The water bottle exterior should be facing you when you move on to the next step, as pictured.    (Fig. E)

Ch1, turn, dc1, dc inc, ch 1, turn
Hdc3
- Fasten off leaving a long tail.
- Straighten strap to line up with other side.
- Use a tapestry needle to sew end of strap to last round of sl st.
- Insert needle from bottom to top into 8th sl st from other strap. (Fig. F)
- Use the last row of strap (both loops) and slip st row to sew.
- Keep stitches tight during sewing process. 
- Stitch each end twice for a more secure strap.
- hide end of yarn on the interior of holder.
- Fuse ends hidden inside of holder.

Create a magic ring

Rd 3: ch1, sc24 in blo, (24sc)
Invert base of holder so that the side facing you as you work is the outside.

Rd 4: ch2, hdc24c (24hdc)
Rd 5: ch4 (counts as dc and ch1), sk 1 st, dc1 in next st, ch1 *sk 1 st, dc1, ch1* repeat 11x, sl st into ch4sp to join (13dc, 12 ch1sp)
Rd 6-8: ch4 (counts as dc and ch1), *sk ch1sp, dc1 in top of dc from prev rd, ch1* repeat 12x, sl st in ch4sp to join (13dc, 12 ch1sp)
Add more of or less of rounds 6-8 for a shorter or taller holder.
Rd 9: ch1, sc25 in blo, sl st to join (21sc)
Rd 10: ch1, sc25, sl st to join (21sc)
Rd 11: sl st 25 (Fig. C)
