A lot of the things I create come from necessity. It usually starts with me in a store or shopping online thinking “why can’t I find what I’m looking for?” Or in this case, why aren’t there cute options out there when it comes to stuffed animal nets?
For years I used this stuff white nylon net with metal grommets I bought online. It didn’t stretch and it was never big enough to hold all the stuffed animals my kids collected.
One day it occurred to me that I could crochet a net. Since then I’ve made storage nets in all shapes and sizes. This solution opened up some pretty sweet ideas to corner storage and now, all of my kids have one (or two) in their rooms. We pile them high with everything from pillows to all the stuffed animals they can hold.
Any yarn weight you’d like can be used - that’s why this pattern is “universal”. I’ve used everything from DK to bulky rope and they all work great
Use a corresponding crochet hook that works well with the yarn you’ve chosen
The finished size will vary due to this pattern being universal and customizable. You will be able to make any size you need.
This pattern can be made for small nets, large nets and everything in-between.
I chose to make mine with a yarn I picked up at a fiber festival a few years ago. It didn’t have an actual label, it only listed the length and what it was made from (bamboo and cotton) so I decided to use it and create my net with a 5.5mm hook.
The result is beautiful and these tassels really make it a statement piece for any room.
When you’re finished making, it’s easy to hang using the corner loops.
